Patience - A Virtue

Blog Post By Mamatha Honnavar

Getting angry or irritated or frustrated is very easy. We don’t have to formally learn these things. We inherit them. However, having patience in situations that get on our nerves, comes with a lot of learning.

If you look around, nature is such a teacher of patience.

Example no.1: look at birds - when the time comes to build a nest, they very patiently start gathering twigs, hay, cotton, rags, & many such things from far & wide and build their nest. I am sure you all too take so much care & patience with your family, friends, at home, & at work.

Example no 2: Now think of the seed you sowed in your garden. Very patiently it adapts to the new place in darkness, absorbs the nutrients from the soil, & sprouts. It patiently allows itself to be seen out of the soil & makes its presence felt until the plant comes out of the soil. We may not know if the seed has sprouted inside & yet we wait patiently for the plant to come up.

We all know patience is a virtue.

Many of us may think we lack patience. However, in reality, we may not have recognized the patience that we have. The examples mentioned here are just a reminder to acknowledge the patience you already have.

Like many things about yourself, your patience may also have gone unnoticed by you or others. What people think or feel about you isn’t the issue.

Have you ever acknowledged your virtue of having patience? Have you ever felt happy that you handled certain situations in your life with patience & got the best results for all involved? Have you ever felt gratitude for your inner strength of being patient in times of adversities or crucial moments?

Don’t you think it’s time you recognize all your wonderful qualities and invite &  inspire others to remain calm & patient with inner strength?

Here are Redikall Statements that will help you recognize your patience & help you remain patient with yourself & others on an ongoing basis. Recite them 7 times:
