Positive Attention

Who, in your opinion, doesn't need attention?

Regardless of how much we have matured in terms of age, profession, or financial status, there is always a subtle or obvious need for attention within all of us. At times, we recognize this need, while at other times, we may remain unaware of it. As we grow, we may seek recognition for our work, aim to build stronger relationships or strive to enhance our self-esteem. Awareness of how we seek attention—positively or negatively is essential for our overall constructive growth.

What is Negative Attention-Seeking?

It refers to behaviors such as drama, manipulation, conflict creation, and self-deprecation used to draw attention to oneself, often accompanied by periods of instability. While these may provide temporary attention, they frequently lead to negative social, financial, or relational consequences.

In contrast, Positive Attention-Seeking involves building genuine connections, making positive contributions, cooperating sincerely with others, and developing skills. This approach encourages healthy relationships, and the sharing of resources and expertise, fostering financial stability and personal and professional growth.

Negative attention-seeking experienced in childhood can become a habit that persists into adulthood. Often, adults do not engage in these behaviors intentionally; instead, they become ingrained over time as the subconscious mind becomes familiar with these negative patterns.

We all have the choice of how we want to grow. We can seek approval through struggles and repeated failures, or learn to approve of ourselves through love, faith, integrity, peace, prosperity, joy, and a strong connection to our core energy.
