Give Dignity
Sometimes, dignity and respect may appear to be the exclusive domain of the wealthy and powerful, or just theoretical concepts on paper. However, the reality is that we all inherently possess dignity and deserve respect. Different people may define dignity in various ways; for some, it could be linked to financial security, while for others, it might involve being heard and valued, or having authority in a particular environment. Depending on individual perspectives and beliefs, dignity may be attainable or elusive.
Whether or not someone feels ready to receive dignity and respect, we can always show dignity and respect to everyone we meet. Some people may feel unworthy of receiving dignity from others, but showing them dignity can prompt them to reflect on their inner selves. They might reject dignity or react in an exaggerated manner due to feeling obligated. Regardless of their reactions, we can continue to offer dignity to everyone, irrespective of their financial, social, or political status, and to all those with whom we have relationships.
Since the world is our mirror image, when you give dignity to others, whom do you think you are providing dignity to? Yes! To the part of you that you see in others. You realize that when you give, you are also the receiver. So, keep treating everyone with dignity and keep receiving.
